Checking

Four checks, two minutes

Worth doing before the file goes to anyone, because every one of these is visible to the reader and invisible to you if you skim.

Search for one Polish letter

Use the editor's search for ł or ż. A zero result on a document that clearly contains them means the characters did not survive.

Line breaks inside sentences

A PDF knows where lines ended on the page. A rebuild sometimes keeps those breaks as real ones, leaving a paragraph chopped into short lines.

Tables

Ruled tables usually survive. A table held by spacing may arrive as a paragraph, and in Polish documents the wider words make that more likely.

Hyphenation

Words broken across lines in the original can keep the hyphen. A search for “- ” finds most of them in one pass.
